Uk Holistic is an expert consultation rheumatologist clinic, with over 20 years of experience in the treatment of pain. At Uk Holistic we treat our patients using a combination of both traditional and alternative medicine.  Dr. Houssein studied medicine at King Abdulaziz University in Jeddah, followed by a Master’s degree in rheumatology at Birmingham University and a clinical Ph.D. in rheumatology at King’s College.

Dr. Houssein’s specialist interests include the management of knee, back, and shoulder pain, fibromyalgia, osteoarthritis, and rheumatoid arthritis. Dr. Houssien has published extensively, with papers in both peer-reviewed journals and over 50 published abstracts, and he regularly presents at conferences on a national and international level. More recently, he has developed a non-drug-based treatment of laser acupuncture for the management of back, neck, shoulder, and knee pain, which has been presented at several international conferences.

Back pain

Pain in the back is fairly common and usually goes away after a matter of weeks or months. Individuals can experience pain in any part of the back, from the coccyx at the bottom of the spine to the neck. The most common complaint is low back pain (also known as lumbago).

Rheumatoid arthritis

Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic and degenerative disease that causes joint inflammation. There are certain areas that this type of rheumatic condition affects more often, they include the wrists, fingers, toes, elbows, shoulders, hips, knees, and ankles. Joint inflammation normally causes pain, deformity, and movement issues, as the cartilage wears out and the bones rub against each other.

Osteoarthritis

Osteoarthritis is a degenerative conditions that affects the joints, causing them to become stiff and causing pain. Any of the joints in the body can be affected, but it more commonly affects the hips, knees, and small joints in the hands. It affects women more commonly than it does men, and is the commonest form of arthritis in the UK.
